Become an Ohio sports gaming host

STEP ONE

Must be a licensed lottery retailer. Non-retailers can access the e-licensing application through our website (link below) to apply for a lottery retailer license or they can contact any of our regional offices for assistance.

https://www.ohiolottery.com/eApplications/Applications

Please note the typical licensing process for a traditional lottery sales agent can take anywhere from 3-5 weeks to complete. Once a host is licensed and has established 90 days of sales as a lottery retailer, and as long as they meet the other requirements, they will be able to pursue a Lottery Type C Sports Gaming Host license

STEP TWO

Complete an interest form by visiting the Ohio Lottery’s website to verify eligibility and receive a Lottery recommendation. This is the first step in securing a type C host license and only takes a few minutes to complete. Retailers will hear back from us within 3-5 days via email.

  • As a reminder, the eligibility requirements for the program are:

  • Must be a licensed lottery retailer

  • Must hold a Type D1, D2, or D5 liquor permit

  • Must NOT be a non-profit corporation or association

  • Must pay a non-refundable $1,000 application fee to the Ohio Casino Control Commission (due at the time of formal application)

  • Must receive a lottery recommendation (achieved through completing an interest form)

STEP THREE

Research and contact type C proprietors as Host agreements will be made directly with a proprietor, not with the Lottery. Proprietor information can be found on our website for Hosts to access.

STEP FOUR

Formally apply for a type C host license with the OCCC through the State of Ohio licensing website at www.elicense.ohio.gov (includes non-refundable $1,000 application fee). A step-by-step tutorial on how to complete the application is attached.

STEP FIVE

Execute formal agreement with a proprietor once conditionally approved or licensed. Sports gaming proprietors are responsible for providing a full-service solution to all host partners.
